Biodiversity Plans Workshop

Biodiversity Plans Workshop

Every Community & Town Council has a statutory duty under Section 6 of The Environment Act  2016 ,to embed the consideration of biodiversity and ecosystems into all their planning, policies and functions as a public body.  In order to meet the ‘Section 6 Duty’ all Community & Town councils must publish a report every 3 years, detailing all actions taken to comply with this duty. The focus of any actions taken must be to: create, restore, protect, and enhance biodiversity and ecosystem resilience.

To enable Councils to report on actions taken, this requires a Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) leading up to each reporting round. The next reporting round is the end of 2025.

We recognise that each community has unique challenges and opportunities when it comes to preserving and enhancing local biodiversity.   As such, we are keen to find out more about the content of your plans and whether we as a National Landscape Team are able to offer any advice in the production and or delivery of your Biodiversity Action Plan’s including any possible funding opportunities via  the National Landscape Sustainable Development Fund.
