Community Spirit prevails during difficult times in the AONB

During the lockdown period community shops and pubs in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley have been a vital lifeline and source of support to the communities they serve. Businesses and volunteers have stepped up to provide shopping services with home delivery, prescription collections and a food bank service. A few forward thinking businesses in Llangollen have also worked together to provide combined deliveries and one community even introduced a community food gift hamper scheme to help those who may be struggling financially. Some communities also held virtual and doorstep V.E. Day celebrations to ensure this milestone could still be commemorated.

With pubs being closed due to Covid-19, some pubs within the AONB have been able to diversify and offer a takeaway service for local communities, which has ensured everyone has access to a freshly made meal without having to go shopping. This has also helped to support our local pubs through this difficult period.

Here are just a few of the businesses who have been supporting their communities through this time – thank you all!

Canolfan Ni, Corwen, Cilcain Community Shop, Dee Valley Produce, Gales of Llangollen, Llandegla Community Shop, Llangollen Zero Waste and Food Share Project, Porters Delicatessen, The Cross Foxes Nannerch, The Crown Hotel Llandegla, The Raven Inn Llanarmon yn IâI, The White Horse Cilcain.
