Sheep worrying incident 21/06/2023

On the morning of 21st June 2023 our rangers were notified of a fatal dog attack on sheep at Moel Famau Country Park. A witness stated that 2 vizla dogs, off lead with a group of runners, chased after the sheep half way up the mountain and attacked one of them. On arriving on site no people were around but the rangers did find a dead sheep in the same location with attack wounds around the neck. This has been reported to the police.

Dogs must be on a lead at Moel Famau, by not having them on a lead you are not only risking them worrying and killing the sheep that graze the hill but you are putting your own dog’s life at risk. You can be taken to court, fined and have a destruction order placed against your dog. Please be a responsible dog owner and keep your dog on a lead when visiting Moel Famau.
