Visit Moel Famau Country Park

Moel Famau means ‘Mother Mountain’ in Welsh, and this peak is well named – at 554m (1818ft) it is the highest summit in the Clwydian Range.

With iconic Georgian Jubilee Tower at the summit it’s easily spotted, and after a bit of legwork to the top you’re rewarded with incredible panoramic views across Merseyside, the coast, Eryri and the Dee Valley.

  • The Shepherd’s Hut (which sells hot and cold drinks/snacks) can be found here on weekends and some holidays (weather dependant) – to find out whether the Hut is there, please contact Loggerheads Country Park on 01352 810614

    • Maes Hafan Lane End near Llanferres – You will need to walk for 30 minutes along the lane to the Coed Moel Famau car park
    • We Three Loggerheads on A494 – this would make a long circular walk of 13km

Coed Moel Famau car park

  • Gates closed at 6pm (October – March) and 9pm (April – September)
  • There is an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) parking payment system
  • £2.50 for first 3 hours. 50p for every additional 30 minutes. Maximum charge of £6 per day
  • Annual permits available
  • Blue Badge Parking available
  • Overnight parking is not permitted

Accessibility

  • This short trail of 0.25 miles goes through the woodland and alongside a stream
  • There are accessible picnic tables along the route.
