Dee Valley Young Rangers
Want to help nature? Aged 11 – 18? Join our Young Rangers group in the Dee Valley!
We’re restarting our Dee Valley Young Ranger group after a rather long break due to Covid 19. The group is perfect for young people aged between 11 and 18 who want to learn more about the amazing landscape on their doorstep, get involved in practical conservation work, wildlife surveying, and experience fun recreational activities in the outdoors.
Our Young Ranger groups first started in 2012, and many of our past young rangers have continued to volunteer and work with the Countryside Service as young adults.
We meet on a roughly monthly basis, with events of between 4 and 6 hours. Participants need to have practical clothing, including waterproofs and sensible footwear. Food and drink need to be brought, although we do often provide hot chocolate and bonfire-cooking.
Our first event is in Coed Pen y Pigyn in Corwen on Wednesday 27th October, 10am-3pm. We will be cutting back the conifer trees to make room for the native oak trees to grow. After lunch and some cooking on the bonfire, we’ll be joined by local artist, Jude Wood, to create some woodland art.
If you’re interested in joining, please email ros.stockdale@denbighshire.gov.uk, and we’ll send you the registration forms.
