Earlier this week, crews from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service undertook a wildfire training exercise at Moel Famau Country Park alongside partners from the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Landscape and Denbighshire County Council.
Tim Owen, the Service’s Wildfire Lead said: “Every year fire is responsible for the destruction of thousands of hectares of countryside, open space, and wildlife habitats and as we know, it is all too easy for wildfires to get out of control, therefore training exercises such as this are extremely important. This exercise provided a perfect opportunity for staff to practice their wildfire fighting skills to ensure that they are prepared in the event of having to tackle a wildfire.
“I’d like to thank partners at Denbighshire County Council for the opportunity to be able to undertake this vital training on their land.”

Remember the burn period will end on the 31st of March in upland areas and ended on the 15th of March in other areas. Let’s work together to burn responsibly. We urge all landowners undertaking controlled burning to notify us by calling the Control Room on 01931 522 006 📞
