This Easter holiday Loggerheads rangers were joined by our Young Rangers to carry out a mini bioblitz of the Country Park. This day long walk took in the steep calcareous grassland through the middle of the cliff, the sunny clifftops, mature broadleaf woodland, coppiced woodland, before finishing along the riparian zone at the river’s edge.
The Young Rangers noted every species seen, including trees, wildflowers, invertebrates, fungi, mammals and reptiles. . By the end of the afternoon, 104 species had been recorded.

Some rarities and peculiarities include the Wayfaring Tree, Toothwort (grisly nicknamed the “corpse flower”), and the first Pied Flycatcher seen by the ranger team in 2026.
Most popular with the Young Rangers were the orange tip butterflies, buzzards and 2 common lizards spotted basking in the sun.
So next time you visit Loggerheads, be sure to notice the wildlife surrounding you.
